“Are you sure you don’t need anything from the store?” Anna asked.
“No, no, go already,” Boris waved her off.

It seemed like he was rushing her out. Anna sighed quietly.
Lately, her husband had become noticeably irritable.
But she chose to ignore it, not wanting to provoke a fight.
Anna always tried to avoid conflict and sought compromise.
Her mother used to say she would make the perfect wife. And she did.
Swallowing her hurt, Anna headed to the store.
Today, she planned to make baked salmon with lemon and rosemary, and for dessert — a cake using her mother-in-law’s recipe.
She wanted to please Boris. While she was at the checkout, she suddenly realized she’d forgotten her wallet at home.
With a heavy sigh, she ran her hand through her hair and quickly dialed her husband, hoping he could come by.
But he didn’t answer. Asking the cashier to hold her basket, Anna hurried home.
As she approached the apartment door, she was about to go in, but then she heard something that made her freeze in place.
Boris was on the phone with someone. The words she overheard shook her to her core.
“Yes, I’ve thought it all through,” he said. “The apartment is almost transferred, just need to move the money.”
Anna stood frozen in the doorway, paralyzed. Her heart pounded wildly.
She grabbed the doorframe, refusing to believe her ears. What apartment? What money? What was he planning?
“Of course, there’s a risk,” Boris continued. “But what can you do? She doesn’t suspect a thing.
And what can she do? She’s so quiet, she’ll endure anything.”
Anna was gripped by pain and fury. She clutched the doorframe even tighter. How could he speak about her that way?
She had lived for him all these years, giving everything without reserve. She couldn’t believe this was real.
“By the way, about the trip,” Boris added.
“We can go to Paris, like you wanted. As soon as everything’s settled.
I can already imagine us strolling down the Champs-Élysées. Buy yourself something nice.”
Anna stood there, stunned, listening as her husband made plans with another woman, unable to enter or walk away.
When the call ended, she finally came to, feeling her world slowly collapsing.
She quietly stepped back from the door, trying not to make a sound, and hid around the corner.
Her heart was still racing like mad. What should she do? Walk in and confront him?
Or stay silent and try to figure things out? But how could she stay silent after this?
The door opened, and Boris walked into the hallway. Anna watched him from her hiding place.
He walked past her without even noticing. When he disappeared into the living room, Anna silently slipped away.
She needed time to think.
She stepped outside and wandered aimlessly. She had completely forgotten about the groceries.
Reaching a park, she sat on a bench and covered her face with her hands. What was Boris planning?
Why did he do this? And what should she do now?
Anna pulled out her phone, about to call someone. But she stopped.
Who could she tell? Her friends? They’d sympathize, but how could they help?
Her parents? She didn’t want to upset them, and how could she explain? After all, they had been together for so many years…
Was he really planning to leave her? Anna decided to call her friend Irina.
Irina immediately sensed something was wrong.
“Anna, are you crying?” Irina asked.
“Not anymore…”
Anna told her everything.
“Maybe come over?” Irina offered.
Anna agreed. They sat and talked about the situation with Boris.
Anna felt a little better. She took the bus home. She still couldn’t calm down.
Opening her banking app, she checked their joint account. The money had indeed decreased.
“Alright then,” she whispered. “You want to play big? Let’s play.”
Returning home, she was met with an annoyed husband.
“Where have you been?” he barked. “I’m starving here, and you’re gone all day.”
Anna clenched her jaw. Placing her bag on the table, she began unpacking the groceries.
“I stopped by Irina’s.”
“Great! The husband’s hungry, and she’s off visiting her friends.”
Anna said nothing. Taking the salmon, she began preparing it. Boris snorted and went back to the TV.
Anna cooked dinner and thought over the situation. She couldn’t let it go on like this.
But how to act? The most important thing — not to give herself away. She needed to find out more about his plans. Then decide.
That evening, her husband, as usual, stared at the TV. Anna pretended to read a book but couldn’t focus.
The next day, Anna decided to take action. She took the day off, claiming she didn’t feel well.
And began her operation. She searched all his papers, checked his computer.
She found correspondence with a lawyer, discussing divorce and division of property. The bastard!
How long had he been planning this… How could she have been so blind? But there was no time for regret.
She had to act quickly. Anna took photos of all the documents and saved the messages.
Then contacted a lawyer.
She quickly found the contacts and arranged a meeting.
While her husband was at work, she gathered the necessary documents and began preparing for divorce.
She opened a separate bank account and transferred part of the joint savings there.
She called her parents and asked for help. And with her husband, she behaved as quiet as a mouse.
But one day, she prepared a surprise for him.
As usual, she set the table. When Boris sat down to dinner, she placed a folder of documents in front of him.
“What’s this?” Boris frowned.
“This is our future, dear,” Anna replied with a bitter smile. “I’m filing for divorce.”
Boris turned pale. He wanted to say something, but Anna cut him off.
“Don’t waste your breath. I know your plans.
I heard your conversation with your mistress and saw the messages.
You thought you could fool me and leave me with nothing? Not going to happen.”
Boris froze, unable to say a word. Anna went on:
“Don’t expect to take everything for yourself and get away with it. I’ve hired a very competent lawyer.
I’m ready to spend any amount of money to make sure you get nothing.
We’ll split everything equally, and forget about Paris.
Don’t even try to hide or transfer anything. I have all the evidence.”
Anna smirked bitterly.
“You know, I’ve already accepted it. I never suspected our relationship was falling apart.
And you spent so long preparing this little ‘surprise’ for me. But everything comes back like a boomerang.”
Boris sat at the table, his face white as chalk.
“Anna, listen…” he finally muttered.
“No, Boris, enough,” Anna cut him off sharply. “Your games are over.
You thought I wouldn’t notice? That I’d wait quietly while you threw me out on the street? You miscalculated.”
“This is all your fault!” Boris exploded. “You were always such a nag! You pushed me to this!”
Anna looked at him with disgust.
“I never imagined you were such a coward.
You couldn’t even be honest and tell me you wanted to leave. Now face what you deserve. Pack your things and go.”
Boris shouted, blamed her for his failures, but Anna no longer heard his words.
Finally, he packed his things and left the apartment. The court ruled the attempt to transfer the property was illegal.
The assets were divided strictly in half. Boris filed several new lawsuits against his ex-wife, but all of them were dismissed.
It took Anna several months to recover.
She decided to start living fully again and went to her friend’s birthday party.
There, she met a charming man. After everything that had happened, she didn’t expect to meet someone at her age, but decided to give this new acquaintance a chance. And that decision changed her life.
His name was Andrei, he was a doctor and had recently become a widower. From the first moment, Anna felt a special connection with him. Andrei was attentive, caring, and a great listener.
They talked a lot that evening, and Anna felt like she had known him all her life.
He wasn’t afraid to show his feelings, and his sincere compliments made her blush.
After that, they began to see each other often. Andrei won her over with his humor, intelligence, and honesty.
He didn’t make empty promises or say grand words — he was simply there when she needed him.
He supported Anna, helped her leave the past behind, and start looking to the future with hope.
Andrei was the complete opposite of Boris, and Anna realized what true love and respect really meant.
After some time, Andrei proposed to Anna. She accepted without hesitation.
The wedding was modest, but filled with warmth and sincerity.
Only their closest loved ones were present.
Anna glowed with happiness, and Andrei couldn’t take his loving eyes off her.
They began a new life, built on love, trust, and mutual understanding.
Anna left the pain and resentment in the past. She became stronger and more confident.
The divorce from Boris became an important lesson, teaching her to value herself and understand what she truly deserved.
She is grateful to fate for meeting Andrei, who restored her faith in love and happiness.
Now, looking at Andrei, Anna knows that true happiness isn’t found in material things, but in simple human values: warmth, support, and care.
She learned to treasure every moment spent together and knew she had found her soulmate — someone with whom she was ready to share her entire life.
