When Lena was only 17 years old, her life changed suddenly. She had met Dmitri, a boy from a parallel class with whom she got along wonderfully. They were inseparable and dreamed of a future together.
But one night, when everything seemed rosy, Lena found out she was pregnant. However, her joy was immediately overshadowed by her parents’ reaction.
Her parents were angry and disappointed. They felt betrayed by Lena and told her plainly: “We have nothing more to say to you — you have to leave!”
Without money or help, Lena moved in with an aunt who lived in another city. She was scared but determined to raise her child alone.
The years passed with difficulty. Lena worked hard so she could send her child to school and provide him with a roof over his head.
Her son Andrei was the pride of her life — the reason she never gave up. Dmitri had completely disappeared from her life.
Her parents, meanwhile, continued living with the belief that Lena had made an unforgivable mistake, and their “punishment” was to keep their distance.
But deep in their hearts, they still hoped that Lena would one day return.
After 15 years, on a spring day, mother and father decided to visit Lena. They wanted to see if she was doing well, if her son was growing up in a good environment, and maybe… to ask for forgiveness.
They arrived at the modest house where Lena lived with Andrei. It was a simple house, but clean and decorated with flowers on the windows.
Hesitantly, they knocked on the door, and when Lena opened it, her eyes widened in surprise.
“Mom, Dad…” Lena said, not knowing whether to be angry or to cry.
But what her parents saw then shattered all their prejudices. Andrei, their son, was now a well-mannered young man — tall, with clear eyes and a warm smile. He had his high school diploma and many dreams ahead.
“Please come in,” Lena said with a trembling voice.
They went inside and sat at the table. Andrei began to talk — about school, his passion for technology, and his plans for the future.
Lena listened with pride, and in her eyes sparkled something her parents hadn’t seen in a long time: strength and dignity.
Then the mother shyly asked:
“How did you manage all this on your own?”
“I had a reason,” Lena answered simply. “I had a child who made me strong.”
Then a heavy silence fell.
“You know,” Lena continued, “I didn’t want to keep you away. I wanted you to be proud of me — not to judge me.”
The parents looked at each other, tears in their eyes. They realized they had made a mistake. Tears were now running down their cheeks as well.
“We’re sorry, Lena. We were too harsh. We want to make peace with you and be with you and our grandson.”
Then Andrei stood up, smiled sincerely, and said:
“My grandparents really know how to surprise.”
Everyone laughed, and in that moment, a new chapter in the family began — one in which understanding and love were stronger than the mistakes of the past.
And it changed their lives forever.
